SERVE & PREVENT

The Shawswick Volunteer Fire Department was established in May of 1974, with 10 members responding out of 1 centralized Station, with three bays but only 1 fire apparatus covering approximately 57 square miles, responding to about 50-75 emergency calls a year. In 1977, our Fire Dept built a second fire station on the east side of the township, with a total of 4 fire apparatus at this time.

In 1984, our Fire Department built a third fire station, covering the north-west side of the township, with two additional bays for fire apparatus. In 2005, our department built a fourth fire station covering the south-east portion of our township. In January of 2016, our department broke ground for a New Fire Station at the same location of where our Headquarters station is located, on Sunny Acres Drive.

The construction of the new fire station was completed in November of 2016, with 5 truck bays with two of them being drive through bays for larger apparatus. At this time, our department has 25 members responding out of 4 Stations , which respond to approximately 500 emergency calls a year. In April of 2017, the Shawswick Fire Department starting covering Guthrie Township, adding an fifth Fire Station on the far east side of the area, covering approximately 100 square miles.
